Chief Investigator Jonathan Lawson has 15 plus years in Law Enforcement. During his career, Assistant Chief Lawson was employed with the Spartanburg City Police Department as a Narcotic investigator assigned to the FBI Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force and a K-9 Handler. Chief Lawson has also been employed with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office for several years, where he was assigned as the supervisor with the Crime Scene unit, in which he was responsible for all Homicide and Violent crime investigations which involved crime scene documentation, evidence collection, and evidence processing. He is a member of the Coroner’s Association and the South Carolina Division of the international association for identification. Chief Lawson has obtained extensive training in wound pattern analysis, shooting incident reconstruction, marijuana analysis, crime scene investigator school, coroner’s school, medico legal death investigation, autoerotic death investigation, Crime Scene reconstruction, latent print examination and Identification, Hazmat operations, grade crossing collision investigation, Advanced Homicide Investigation and many other specialized training fields. Mr. Lawson also recived Solicitors 2019 award for Investigative Excellence, 2019 Investigator of the Year for the Spartanburg County Coroner's Office, and 2021 Deputy Coroner of the year through the South Carolina Coroner's Association. Chief Lawson is a native of Spartanburg County and graduate from Paul M. Dorman High School.
